Play Date at Julian's House

Julian had his friends Walker and Tim over tonight. They are a wild trio for sure. They had a great time playing in Julian's room. They had pizza and watched a movie in the theater complete with home made popcorn. After the initial wildness they calmed down and played very well together. He's going to miss them a lot. The good thing is that they both live very close to my parents house so when we come home for visits he will be able to see them.

And yet...another snow storm

So...we had another snow storm today dumping close to 12 inches of snow on us. Julian was happy to have another day off from school and asked to have his friend Tim over from down the street. We headed out on snowshoes to "pick him up". As I was visiting with Tim's mom Cindy a neighbor came by with his daughter so I invited her over too. We headed back home where the kids played outside for a while. When they were cold they came in for, as Julian says, "A hot cup of joe", that would be hot cocoa for most people. Then they had some pizza and watched a movie in the theater. Once they were done they went back outside to play. In the meantime we got a call from Bryan Seachrist saying that my dad had fallen at work and broke his arm. I hiked the kids back to their respective homes and met my Mom at home so we could go into town to relieve Bryan of his hospital duty and get my father and his truck back home. His arm is fractured in two places and will need to be surgically repaired later this week. They tried to set it but the Chinese torture device they use to do that was not working for him; instead, they casted his arm and sent him home with all kinds of instructions about what to do and what not to do. My father does not like to be home all day and that is just where he will be for the next several days. That is pretty much it from my side of the earth...

Julian for Giuliani

At 3:30 this afternoon, Julian remembered he had a project due tomorrow. He has had the past week and a half to do it and just remembered today that it is due tomorrow. Needless to say I was not pleased that I had to run out to the store during a snow storm to buy supplies for it. Anyway, he had to make a poster promoting his pick for President in 2008 and a booklet about the candidate. At school they have been talking a lot about the presidential candidates and the kids all seem to have strong opinions of their choices. From the beginning Julian has been for Giuliani so that is who he did his project about. It took him the last three hours of freedom before school starts back up. He was not pleased but knew it was his own fault so hopefully he learned a lesson from this...hopefully!!!

Wagon Hill Sledding Escapade

Yesterday Julian and I went to Wagon Hill in Durham NH to go sledding. The snow stopped on the way over and the sun came out for the hour plus that we were over there. The conditions were perfect! The snow was fresh but loosely packed from all the sledders who beat us there. The air was cold but the sun helped keep us warm, not to mention the hikes back up the hill! We made 25+ runs down and up the hill on our little green plastic sleds. Next time we go we're going to get a tube. The people with tubes were going really fast and far and it looked like a blast. More snow today so maybe this weekend we can take another trip over there.
